COMMENTS:

  • This is a difficult stanza to parse correctly due to word order.
  • Note the relatively rare Benedictive verb form 'apanudyAt:may it remove'. It is classified as a Potential Verb in both [MM2015] [1] and [KK2015] [2].
  • Note the passive past participle 'ACC-S:Ruddham:[that is] prosperous'. It has as its Subject 'ACC-S:rAjyam:kingdom', and governs the complement 'LOC-S:bhUmO'. The adjective 'ACC-S:asapatnam:unrivalled' will be assumed to modify the participle. The phrase can now be read as '... a kingdom [that has] unrivalled prosperity on Earth ... '. Note that [MM2015] [1] does not treat 'ACC-S:Ruddham' as a passive past participle that has its own subordinate phrase structure, leading to a slightly different internal structure and reading for the clause.
  • The internal structure of clause A.2 is far too complex for our syntactic parser to get right, and is best left to a human expert. The English translation of this clause in [MM2015] will give the reader an idea about the complexity of reordering terms in this clause.
