COMMENTS:

• As mentioned previously, adjunctive terms such as 'LOC-S:madhye:midst' cannot always be attached to clauses reliably by a syntactic parser that does not have a 'real world' understanding. In this stanza, the parser assumes that 'LOC-S:madhye:midst' is a complement of the present participle 'ACC-S:viSHIdantam:[one who is] despairing', with the resultant reading 'Hrishikesha said to him [who was] despairing in the midst of both the armies ...'. [MM2015] [1] assumes that this term is an adjunct of the main verb 'uvAcha:said', with the reading 'In the midst of both the armies, Hrishikesha said to him [who was] despairing ...'. However, other commentators have assumed the term to be a complement of the present participle. Clearly, the attachment of the adjunct terms by parser is possibly the correct one, but this question is best left to human experts.
• Note also that the main verb of the clause is a double-object verb (i.e. its objects are 'ACC-S:tam:him' and 'ACC-S:vachaHa:utterance').
• There is another present participle term 'NOM-S:prahasan:[who is] smiling' that has its Subject the term 'NOM-S:hRuSHIkeshaHa' (i.e. read together as 'Hrishikesha [who is] smiling said...').
